Happy August! Kalo Mina! The first day of each month, Greeks greet just about every single person they know and meet : “Καλό μήνα” (Kalo Mina), which literally means “good month”. It is the Greek way of wishing their friends, family and community a good month ahead of them, their way of wishing you well. So from all of us at Elaia we wish you a Kalo Mina!

Mezze From Midday

What does mezze mean? Mezze 'to taste', is the name for an assortment of small dishes served before a meal or as a main meal often with a drink. Mezze in Greek culture is a reflection of the Greek way of life—warm, inviting, and centered around community and enjoyment. It’s a dining experience that encourages sharing and connection, highlighting the simplicity and richness of Greek culinary traditions.

At Elaia we are disrupting our whole eating culture of ordering entrees and mains with a meal to oneself and replacing it with ordering a combination of mezze and main dishes to share. Sharing mezze emphasises communal dining where it’s not just about the food but about the social experience to be shared amongst family and friends. 

This month at Elaia we have added extra mezze to our menu that can be enjoyed as a light meal on its own, as an afternoon mezze to be shared with our house Koumozo Ouzo or a glass of Greek wine or order three or more to make a meal out of them. There are no rules. You are limited only by your appetite.

But of course, if you're a little bit like me and prefer a meal to yourself we would never deny you from enjoying a mezze, main meal and dessert on your own. Kali Orexi!

Mezze available from Midday to 8.00pm Wednesday to Saturday. 

Yemista

Red Pepper stuffed with risotto rice, vegetables and Greek herbs.  Enjoy with the Paidakia (Greek Lamb Cutlets) a side of Lemon Potatoes and a glass of Iris Dry Red.

Marinated Pork Skewers

Served with a dollop of Tzatziki enjoy this with the Dips Plate, Greek Salad and a glass of Oreinos Helios White Moscofilero/Sauvignon Blanc.  

Flash-Fried Whitebait

From Lakes Entrance and served with ouzo mayo.  Enjoy with the Grilled Tasmanian Octopus and Squid wash down with a bottle of Seven Seals Pale Ale our imported Greek Craft Beer.

Changes to Our Trading Hours at Elaia

We’re thrilled to announce a new era at Elaia with new trading hours. Starting in August, we’re making some exciting changes.

New Trading Hours:

Wednesday to Saturday:
🕗 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM

  • All-Day Breakfast: From 8.00am Indulge in your favorite breakfast dishes and sides any time until 4:00pm. Start your day right, or enjoy breakfast for lunch.

  • Lunch: Served from Midday until 4.00pm. Enjoy a variety of our Greek and signature options for your corporate lunches or regular catch ups.

  • Dinner: Available from 4:00pm, featuring our A La Carte Menu, our specials board as well as our Eat Like A Greek Feast.

  • All-Day Treats: Enjoy cake, coffee, cocktails, and wine all day long. Whether you’re looking for a quick bite or a relaxing drink, we’ve got you covered.

  • Takeaway Options: All your favorite meals and beverages are available for takeaway so you can enjoy Elaia wherever you are. Pick up or delivery through Uber Eats and Menulog.

This change is a significant step for us, and we couldn’t be more excited about it.
