Winter in Launceston has certainly delivered. Subzero temperatures, fog, frost, rain with the brilliant sunshine in between, we've had it all. Thankyou to everyone braving the elements to get to us and those not so brave for ordering takeaways. It's always a delight to see your faces walk through our doors and so appreciative of your support. We have a lot to unpack today, so let's get cracking.
What's New at Elaia
BRUNO ROSSI COFFEE
With close to 30 years of operation, we have tarted around with several brands of coffee. Change is always good, as it keeps us moving, evolving and catering to our ever changing market. We're delighted to be using Bruno Rossi Coffee, a blend that boasts to be rich, bold and handsome. Their coffee beans are Fairtrade certified which means they support fair and ethical trade practices. Bruno has been well received by our guests and judging by the second coffee orders, we know we're on a winner!
Seven Seals Microbrewery Craft Beer
Exclusive to Elaia, Tasmania and imported direct from Greece we proudly introduce Seven Seals Microbrewery Craft Beer.
Pale Horseman Pale Ale. Handcrafted fruity dry hopped Pale Ale. Amber coloured with a soft, malty character with aromas of sweet tangerine pineapple and mango.
The Black Horseman Traditional Stout. A full bodied malty and mysterious black beer. Full of surprises with chocolate & coffee aromas, vanilla & cocoa notes and a rich sweet alcoholic aftertaste. Both pair beautifully with all Elaia food.
Semeli Estate Vineyard Peloponnese
Oreinos Helios is a fine blend of two highly aromatic varieties from the Peloponnesian vineyards. The elegant Moschofilero with intense aromas of rose and lemon blossom and the popular Sauvignon Blanc with citrus and exotic fruits in the foreground.
Pairs perfectly with our grilled octopus, saganaki, seafood pasta, chilli squid, and of course our dips plate. Available by the glass and bottle.

Functions & Events
We have had the pleasure of hosting weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, Greek nights, product launches, afterparties and of course Christmas parties. Our menu is Greek inspired, the background music has a Greek vibe and our guests have been known to jump up to the beat of the Zorba! OPA! - as yet we haven’t had any plate smashing... but anything is possible!
The absolute maximum we can seat for a sit down dining experience is 40 guests which will be seated over two to three tables.
For bookings less than thirty, the dining room will be open and available for other guests to dine. We are looking forward to assisting you in organising your special event and have a couple of menu options for you to choose from so that you can choose the option that suits your needs,

Unsure of the exact date and I totally nearly forgot but we opened in July and the year was 1996. These pics are of the original Elaia taken at the time before we did a massive refurb back in 2005. I've lost count the number of reinventions we've had over the years. Some of which I wish I'd taken a holiday instead. But by far the scariest, challenging and most rewarding change we've done is embracing our Greek/Cypriot culture and heritage and providing Launceston and the north of the State an authentic Greek dining experience. Thankyou to our Chefs for embracing this change to our menu and to our Front of House team for learning what Greek hospitality is all about. And to you for being part of our journey, our brand and our hospitality. I’m so grateful to you.
